Sun Flower, luscious fall perennial

In anticipation of the cold weather we cut down all of the summer flowers in the perennial garden this weekend. Things are looking pretty bare. Fortunately, the grasses are still blooming. They add so much  movement & color.

My research into fall perennials continues.  This gigantic 8 foot tall flower is called a Perennial Sunflower, not to be confused with the big-blooming annual sunflowers. ‘Lemon Queen’ produces gorgeous creamy-yellow blooms in late summer and early fall.

My grandchildren adore the huge annual sunflowers during the summertime.  I am excited to offer them another option for the fall that is just as much fun.

About mehrlich125

Since I was little I liked to visualize and create things. Painting with watercolors is what makes me happy now. That, and spending time gardening and reading. I love long walks, biking, and the beach. Cape Cod is where I spend a lot of my leisure time.
