How to Spend the Day

Here is a photo of the still life that I painted.  Next is the actual watercolor 11 X 14, arches 140 lb cold press paper.

Setting up a still life is not an easy task. Merry, my friend and art mentor, set this up for me to paint. She is great at finding just the right composition. This still life is at her house, outside, with a background of trees and a ground of pebbles. I modified the background and created the beach, following my mood and wishful thinking about hanging out at the beach later that day. We decided to modify the color of the hat to an orange tone. The orange compliment works better with the blue chair and its a lot brighter.

About mehrlich125

Since I was little I liked to visualize and create things. Painting with watercolors is what makes me happy now. That, and spending time gardening and reading. I love long walks, biking, and the beach. Cape Cod is where I spend a lot of my leisure time.
