About Me

This is my first blog and my first “Selfie.”

I created this BLOG to share my finished artwork. I hope to include some pen and ink and watercolor sketches as well as some thoughts, and pictures to show how I progress to my finished work. It’s exciting to have time to pursue new interests. Who knows where it will lead?

Four years ago I retired from a wonderful career of teaching young children. I taught elementary school for 35 years and loved it. However,  after retiring it was time to find new passions. Now I am in the process of rolling over from a work life to

a painting life. Gardening and watercolors provide wonderful sources of inspiration for me.  A friend convinced me to take a watercolor class with her.  That was it I dove right in.  I can’t imagine anything more pleasant than painting outdoors. I really enjoy how I can combine a love of flowers and nature with watercolor painting. It’s a natural, especially with the way flowers grow so beautifully on the cape.

I try to paint/draw a little every day, although it doesn’t always happen. My life includes a dear husband, children, and active grandchildren. Leaving my paints and paper out in the kitchen area allows me the opportunity to paint “in the moment” and then go on to other things.

If you would like to contact me,  just leave a comment.

Best wishes for an artful day!

Marian

Then we have something in common! My kitchen window provides amazing light especially in the a.m. My husband is really tolerant of my paints, easel, brushes and various paraphernalia that lay across our kitchen table. Usually, we have to squeeze out a space for the two of us to eat. I wish I had another dedicated spot, but this is always where I end up.
